Studying Abroad? Seems Like The Guardian Agrees With Me

If you’ve read through my blog before, you may have seen a post I did on studying abroad in Japan/China. Something which I’m looking to do next year. In my article, I highlighted how experiencing other cultures can broaden your mind.

I came across an article today from the Guardian, further justifying my decision. You can find that here, you can find my post on that here.

What do you want to see me do with this blog?

Work Experience!

Hey guys, I’m incredibly guilty of being a naughty, inactive blogger recently, but I’ve had a few assignments I’ve had to take care of, so don’t hold it against me, OK?

Good news, though, I’ve managed to wangle three whole weeks of work experience at Carat’s new Manchester branch. That’s right, whilst you’re lapping up the Spring sun with your family and friends over Easter, I’ll be sitting in an office.

Anyway, I will blog more. I promise. I was planning on highlighting the propaganda of Kony 2012 but then the guy started running around in his bills, so I guess I don’t have to. I will be blogging everything that goes on over the course of my three weeks in Carat, and I’m hoping to have a post done by this coming Friday in celebration of Steve McQueen’s birthday.

I leave you with this,

Studying Abroad… Japan/China

The past week has been good to me, though I have spent the majority lost in my thoughts. I’ve decided I’ll be spending my third year not in placement, but in foreign study. Hopefully, Japan, but as things stand, it’ll probably be China, not that I’m too upset about that.

Whilst I believe that experience at this stage in the start of your career is essential when it comes to landing your first job, life experience is more important for building your character, which in the long-term, is far more important and beneficial than your starting paycheque. A First Of Many…

Today I got my first First! Hopefully it’s a First of many in my three years at Manchester Met.

I want to say congratulations to everybody else in the Digital Media & Marketing Platforms unit! From what I hear, we all got a very respectable grade. The agency blogs that I’ve seen are remarkable, notably, our friends at 3rd Eye and Fudge Digital!

Tensions were definitely running high this afternoon, I was bouncing off the walls, we had all just previously got our Principles of Marketing assignment back but for me, this was the big one. The results were given to the theme of Jeopardy, which just intensified my own personal excitement ten fold, and as everybody around me was getting their paper back, I was starting to think Brendan had forgotten about us for a second…

The team got a First though! We also got a golden ticket – which I have no idea of the meaning. Apparently, all will be revealed in next weeks lecture, though we were told that we’re all being watched. So, Hi!

As you all probably know, today is Friday the 13th, renowned for it’s bad luck, but today, our team learnt that you make your own luck.

And thank you to my team, their combined efforts.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year blog readers!

I’ve had an ‘eventful’ few weeks off and I am definitely looking forward to returning to University, believe it or not.

So, 2012? What have we to look forward to? Well, I turn 21 tomorrow, which I am not looking forward to. The olympics, which will be interesting. And hopefully, seeing as it’s our last year on the earth, we will see some more glorious ad campaigns and what not!

What’s your new years resolution then? Humour me.
