David Beckham Statue?

I always thought that, if David Beckham was to get a statue, it would be something to do with his football, or his contribution to sport. Definitely not his bills.

But, I shit you not, a 10ft iron sculpture has appeared in the middle of Manhattan to promote his latest line of underwear from the Swedish retailer, H&M.

Beckham said: “I’m very happy that so far people seem to like it, and the first season was incredibly successful. Continue reading

Bear Grylls for Dockers

Bear Grylls, is probably my favourite person on this entire Earth, and now, he’s the face for one of my favourite pairs of khakis!

When Bear was in the military, he had a near paralysing accident during a routine parachuting exercise in Africa. It was the aftermath of this event that led Bear to want to go where very few men have gone before. At 23, Bear was the youngest person to climb to the summit of Everest, an ordeal which he barely escaped with his life.

He’s a truly fascinating feller, extremely humble, and very intelligent, which comes across in the below video.

If you enjoy a good book, then I recommend his autobiography, “Mud Sweat and Tears”. I bought it over the summer and only put it down once it’d finished. The book also helped me out of a very dark time, so thanks for that, Bear.

Skyward Sword – Robin Williams

I absolutely love The Legend of Zelda. The Ocarina of Time held the #1 spot on IGN for a good ten years and I’m pretty sure it’s still up there, though I can’t find it to check. If you haven’t played any of the Legend of Zelda games then you have missed out dearly. Robin Williams seems to think so too, he actually named his daughter after distressed damsel and appeared in a charming advert for Nintendo, promoting the 3D remake of Ocarina of Time some time last year. What a beard?!

Well he’s back again with Zelda for the release of the latest addition on the Wii; Skyward Sword. Apparently this is the greatest game to come out under the LOZ title, absolutely blowing OOT out of the water with a 10/10 (IGN). I’m genuinely excited to get my hands on this, I vow not to leave the house until it’s completed.

One of my favourite games. One of my favourite actors. Ergo, one of my favourite adverts.

Lynx – Lucy Pinder Apologises

In relation to my prior post about the number of complaints received over the Lynx campaign, they’ve released a cheeky apology.

The video shows Lucy Pinder in a thick, long sleeved wooly jumper, unpacking from a box labelled “lynx props”, the “news line” type banner reading “Lynx apologises for the offence it’s caused”.

“This week we got a fair few complaints about our online Lucy Pinder stuff, and had to pull the lot down. We wanted to apologise and show that we wouldn’t make the same mistake again. So we gave Lucy a call, and asked for our stuff back..”

A great response from the brand over what was clearly meant as a bit of humour. They’ve apologised but still kept their cool.

Blind Leading The Blind – David Beckham

Ok, hands up who loves David Beckham? Me too, what’s not to love? He’s a talented footballer, mega rich, extremely handsome, charitable and a family man. An all around good guy, right? Right.

So ahead of the 2012 Olympics, David Beckham has gotten a feel for blind football by joining the Paralympics Team GB for a training session as a part of Sainsbury’s new campaign. Funnily enough he actually manages to score a penalty whilst blind folded, so there’s definitely no excuse for this miss.

What a great guy though.

Today Stuart Pearce has announced that David Beckham will be shortlisted for the 2012 Olympics. Last month, the LA Galaxy star spoke out about how winning gold would be the “ultimate achievement“, and expressed his desire to be included in Team GB.
